We have a happy ending. Our pull request to the UI Bootstrap project was merged. Now our tooltips won't jitter and neither will anyone else's. I feel calm. I received a really constructive review from several members of the AngularUI team and the code is much better for it. Thank you to @chrisirhc, @wesleycho and @RobJacobs.

In the last post, I talked about troubleshooting a bug where our tooltips were shifting by 1 pixel. And how happy I was that it only burned a day of my time. Well, I spent another day on it.

I submitted a fix for the tooltips to the AngularUI team, and reported new layout bugs to the Chrome and Safari teams. I'm not happy about the amount of time spent, but if everything goes well, a bunch of people will benefit from this work. I think it's worth it.

I spent most of the day tracking down and isolating a bug where tooltips shifted by 1 pixel.

Experience it for yourself in this gif. In some cases, it can be more severe, but mostly it was just annoying.

Even after spending the day, I didn't find a solid solution. But at least I was able to isolate the problem and report it at the source. If I'm lucky, some benevolent soul on the AngularUI team will fix the bug and I'll be rewarded for my diligence, but it's also just as likely it'll slip through the cracks and I'll have to come up with a workaround. Or try to solve it well and submit a pull request, but I really don't like the sound of that. I've got enough problems on my own.

At least it was only one day. I've spent more time on smaller problems. I find it hard to know where to draw the line with troubleshooting. Sometimes I take it too far, but that moment when the clouds part and you finally understand the problem, it's so good.

Authentication is working and we have a new two column view for the project detail page.

Today was a good day. UI-Router has been working out well and the navigation is really coming together.
